What our help rests on

Firsts in India

Some of the technologies we helped bring to India for the first time.

  1. KÖNIG-KRANE, Germany

    Long-jib self-erecting tower cranes

The first in India, and the first internal-climbing cranes for buildings over 300 metres. The work led to KOENIG Equipment India.

  2. UELZENER Maschinen, Germany

    Mechanised plastering

Plaster mixed on site and sprayed by machine, introduced to India for the first time. Two plastering models are now made in India by an Indian company.

  3. PREFORMBOTTLE

CHEMIX MACHINERY JAPAN and RYOZAI KAIHATSU, Japan

    Two-stage stretch blow moulding

A collaboration to make, for the first time in India, the machines for heat-resistant and pressure-resistant PET bottles.

The stories in full

Seven ways into India

For companies outside India. The more of yours you put in, the more say you keep.

1Agent or distributor

What you put inControl you keep

An Indian company sells your products for you. Little of yours is at stake while you learn the market; the risk is a partner who sells your product only when it suits him.

How we find the right one

2Buying parts or products from India

What you put inControl you keep

An Indian manufacturer makes parts or products to your drawings and standards: lower costs without lower quality, if the supplier is checked before the first order and not after.

How we check a supplier

3Licence contract

What you put inControl you keep

An Indian company makes and sells your product, or uses your process, in India and pays you for it. You keep the technology; the contract decides how much of the value stays with you.

4Technology transfer, collaboration

What you put inControl you keep

You bring the technology and the know-how; the Indian company brings its factory, people and market. It works when both sides want the same thing from it.

How a collaboration is set up

5Joint venture

What you put inControl you keep

You and an Indian partner own a company together: a partner who knows the market and shares the cost, in exchange for some of the control.

How we prepare a joint venture

6Your own company, built new

What you put inControl you keep

Full control, and everything you learn stays yours. It costs the most and takes the longest, and it pays only if the market for your product is really there.

What we check before you start

7Buying an Indian company

What you put inControl you keep

A team, a factory and customers on day one, instead of building them. The price has to reflect what the company is really worth, including what is hidden.

Buying a company in India

A rough picture, not a rule: the right way depends on your product and your market. All seven, explained.
