The people you will be working with

IND-TECH CONSULTANTS (ITC) is led by an engineer who has spent his working life finding the right technology for Indian industry and the right Indian partner for foreign companies, and who still believes a problem should be understood before a solution is proposed.

Er. Pradeep Ghumare, Founder and Principal Consultant, IND-TECH CONSULTANTS, Pune

Pradeep Ghumare is an engineer, trained in India and in Japan.

  • He graduated in electronics and telecommunication engineering from the Government College of Engineering, Pune, in 1980.
  • His post-graduation was in Japan: a specialisation in CNC machines and flexible manufacturing systems (FMS), with academic study and factory training at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Hiroshima and at Fujitsu Fanuc.
  • In 1982 he trained in project management with Tsubakimoto, Tokyo.
  • With Tsubakimoto he worked on India's first CNC machining-centre collaboration, between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Praga Tools.
  • In 1984 he began arranging collaborations between Indian and Japanese companies with Chikako Corporation, Tokyo.

Word spread. From 1984 to 1997 he was the country representative in India of Technology For The People (TFTP), Geneva, arranging collaborations and technology transfers between Swiss and Indian companies under mandates from the Swiss Federal Office of Foreign Economic Affairs, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank Group. French and German tie-ups followed. He founded IND-TECH CONSULTANTS in 1984 and has led it since; from 1984 to 1990 he also worked as an associate consultant with MITCON, Pune. He has been a Certified Management Consultant since 1990.

His work has been with Japanese, German, Swiss, Austrian, French, Dutch and other companies bringing their products, technologies and operations to India: working out which solution fits Indian requirements, setting up partnerships, collaborations and subsidiaries, and negotiating the agreements behind them. He has worked across industries, from software and electronics to machine tools, plastics, automotive and construction. Since 2006 he has been closely involved in bringing construction technologies from German and other European companies to India, from self-erecting tower cranes and modular formwork to ready-mix plaster, mechanised grouting and precast façades in ultra high performance concrete. He is a director of KOENIG Equipment India and NOE Formwork India, the Indian companies of two German firms.

He helps European and Indian small and medium-sized companies with acquisitions in India and in Europe, and values businesses.

The team

IND-TECH CONSULTANTS is small on purpose: every client gets personal, one-to-one service. Pradeep leads every assignment and sits in the meetings that matter. Behind him, a team of associates in Pune does the market research, the company searches, the factory visits and the paperwork between meetings. For acquisitions we work with partner firms in Germany, Switzerland and the rest of Europe, and in Canada. Legal, tax and audit work is done by qualified firms we have worked with for years, and we coordinate it, so that you deal with one contact throughout.

What we do best

  • Finding and judging technology, and arranging its transfer
  • Sourcing products and technology for manufacture in India
  • Looking at a company, a factory or a product technically and commercially
  • Working out whether a plan works and pays, and writing the business plan
  • Which products suit a market, and what they should cost
  • Market surveys
  • Checking a company before you commit, and valuing it
  • Acquisitions and sales of small and medium-sized companies

What we are working on now

Material handling equipment such as tower cranes; AI and IoT applications in industry; automation and robotics; mechanised plastering with ready-mix plaster; UHPC for façades; and 3D printing equipment and mortar materials.

How we work

A conversation may start with a broad ambition, a difficult commercial situation or a problem you have struggled with for years. We listen, ask the questions that matter, and look at the situation from the management side, the technical side, the factory floor and the market at the same time. The aim is that you see the situation clearly and know the realistic way forward. Not every problem is solved in one go; some need more investigation, a specialist, or a change in how the business runs. We will say which.

Engineering, concrete, architecture and construction bodies across India invite Pradeep to speak about new technology. See what our help rests on.

Other work

Pradeep also mentors students and start-ups, and ITC works with a European organisation that places nurses and physiotherapists in Europe.
